LITHA 2018

Hosted by Jo Flowers and Hart Floral

Coming together again in 2018 for another season of Litha, Jo, Madison and Susie from Knot & Pop created an unforgettable experience for the workshop attendees with three dinners and an editorial - all of which were deeply anchored in the beauty of nature that Litha celebrates and the unique architecture of Bylaugh Hall which traditionally hosts the retreat every year. Photographed by Gilian Stevens who travelled all the way from British Columbia, the result was a sensual, welcoming and organic embodiment of British Midsummer.

DAY ONE

PERFECTLY PRESSED

Designed by Susie of Knot & Pop, Litha’s first supper focused on the concept on the power of the single stem with a pressed flower table runner and commissioned tableware with press flower imprints. To best suit the reclaimed nature of the space, flowers were dressed within reclamation yard finds with pressed flower pillar candles bringing further texture. A soft palette was created for this room in pale blue, off-white and soft mustard tones, with the dried grasses of summer and pressed flowers mixing with beautiful British flowers. Textures layered together – with wooden table tops, pale blue table runner, mustard linen napkins, textural ceramics, speckled tealights, terracotta reclaimed vases and vintage eclectic silver cutlery…

DAY TWO

RED ATRIUM

For the second evening of Litha 2018, the guests gathered in the atrium area for dining to celebrate their work, with their flowers dressed along the tablescape and arrangements created by the students adorning the grand hall. Taking inspiration from the tones in the room, we opted for a striking rich red as the base palette. All students worked within the palette set for the dinner for a beautiful cohesive design and to keep the focus on the flowers, Susie kept the look and design more minimal with clear taper holders and contemporary gold votives scattered across the tables…

DAY THREE

MID SUMMER FEAST

Celebrating Mid Summer and the final evening of Litha 2018, Susie created a fitting send off for all of the guests. Dining outdoors, the final supper took place with Bylaugh Hall as the backdrop. To give a sense of abundant light, we kept the palette soft and delicate in sage greens and buttery yellows. Organic fabric runners with frayed edges mixed with textured pillar candles, bespoke ceramics, and mix and match cutlery. Artisanal, luxurious and indulgent, the Final Supper, was a true celebration of the creative and collaborative talent that Litha 2018 brought…
